RNSG 1331 - Principles of Clinical Decision Making


Prerequisites / Corequisite

Prerequisites: RNSG 1209 and RNSG 1105
Corequisite: RNSG 1362

Examination of selected principles related to the continued development of the professional nurse as a provider of care, coordinator of care and member of a profession. Emphasis on clinical decision making for clients in medical-surgical settings experiencing health problems involving fluid and electrolytes, perioperative care, pain, respiratory disorders, peripheral vascular disorders, chronic renal failure, immunologic disorders, infectious disorders, gerontology and hematological disorders. Discussions of knowledge, judgment, skills and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. Includes implementation of the nursing process to assist adult clients in the promotion, maintenance or restoration of health. This course lends itself to either a blocked or integrated approach.
