Introduction to professional nursing concepts and exemplars within the professional nursing roles: member of profession, provider of patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, and member of the health care team. Content includes clinical judgment, communication, ethical-legal, evidenced-based practice, health promotion, health information technology , patient-centered care, patient education, professionalism, safety, and team/collaboration. Emphasizes role development of the professional vocational and registered nurse. This course utilizes the Texas Board of Nursing practice guidelines for the Licensed Vocational Nurse and Registered Nurse scope of practice. This course lends itself to a concept-based approach.
