The Construction Technology program at Amarillo College consists of three stackable certificates which lead to an Associate in Applied Science degree.  The Carpentry intermediate certificate builds on the student’s interest in carpentry.

The intermediate certificate is composed of four courses.  These courses build upon the student’s basic knowledge and grow their skills in:  safety, specific trade tool use, increased drafting skill, blueprint reading, introduction to carpentry, project scheduling and cost estimating.  Students will be involved in project based learning to develop their skills and knowledge of the carpentry trade.

As students progress through the intermediate carpentry certificate they will build upon skills learned to continue the construction of their tiny home project.

Students will be required to seek internships and jobs within the carpentry trades.  Any course after the first 18 SCH of the core can be substituted with an internship, apprenticeship, or cooperative learning agreement in consultation with your instructor and work supervisor.
