The CIS - Software Foundations Level 2 Certificate provides advanced, hands-on training for students seeking entry-level to intermediate roles in software development, web technologies, and information systems support. This workforce-focused credential emphasizes applied problem-solving, programming proficiency, system fundamentals, and collaborative software project development, aligning with industry expectations.

In addition to foundational programming logic, web development, databases, and operating systems, students gain deeper experience with computer hardware and software fundamentals, structured and object-oriented programming, application software problem solving, and advanced web programming techniques. The curriculum culminates in a comprehensive software project in which students plan, design, and develop a software solution using industry-relevant tools, documentation practices, and teamwork.

Upon completion of the CIS - Applied Systems & Design Level 2 Certificate, graduates will be prepared for entry-level software and web development roles, technical support positions, and junior application support roles, and will be well positioned to continue into an associate degree or advanced certificates in Computer Information Systems.

All major course requirements are to be taken in the order approved by the student's individual CIS Advisor. The student must have a “C” or higher in all required courses to progress to the next level of the program. To remain eligible for enrollment in subsequent CIS courses, a student may repeat a particular CIS course only once and may repeat only two CIS courses.
