MATH 0324 - Business and Social Science Fundamentals


Prerequisites / Corequisite
Corequisite: MATH 1324

The course is designed as a corequisite, supplemental course for MATH 1324, Math for Business and Social Science, whose areas of study include  the application of common algebraic functions, including polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and rational, to problems in business, economics, and the social sciences are addressed.  The applications include mathematics of finance, including simple and compound interest and annuities; systems of linear equations; matrices; linear programming; and probability, including expected value.  This course does not transfer and is not applicable toward any degree.  The course supports students in developing skills, strategies, and reasoning needed to succeed in mathematics, including communication and appropriate use of technology. Topics include the study of numeracy and the real number system; algebraic concepts, notation, and reasoning; quantitative relationships; mathematical models; and problem solving.
