AELE 0053 - English as a Second Language High Intermediate


Speak in a variety of rich conversations and practice listening skills using context clues, retelling, or paraphrasing of ideas to hear and comprehend the spoken message. Identify central ideas, supporting details, determine the sequence of events, and recognize the speaker’s message by reading a variety of sophisticated texts that are relatable. Comprehend and actively engage in extended conversation and other verbal exchanges that go beyond personal needs and familiar topics. Verbalize personal opinions, inferences, generate questions and make connections. Convey emotion of a spoken message. Analyze, annotate, and summarize while reading a variety of texts. Write about a variety of meaningful topics.  Write with an audience in mind for a variety of topics and begin to Identify essays that are entertaining, informational or argumentative by using the writing process (pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing, publishing, share). Learn the writing conventions, including voice, tense, structure, and grammar.
