Prepares the student to perform laboratory procedures which aid the physician and pathologist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease in the hospital, clinic or research laboratory. Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be eligible to take a national certification examination for the Medical Laboratory Technician.

The MLAB courses are to be taken in sequential order. A grade of C or higher is required for satisfactory completion of all courses in the curriculum.

To continue in the program, a student may repeat a MLAB course only one time, and may repeat no more than two courses while enrolled in the program. The term “repeat” shall be interpreted to mean re-enrollment following withdrawal, drop or an unsatisfactory grade from a class. Students who are forced to completely withdraw from the college during a given semester may re-apply for admission to the program. Once the student has actually begun the program, he/she must complete all MLAB major courses within 36 months. A student seeking entry into Medical Laboratory Technology must file a specific program application form with the department and complete additional admission procedures as required. Information is available on the MLT website.

To be eligible to apply to the Medical Laboratory Technology program, the student must be enrolled in or have completed the following courses to satisfy the Phlebotomy requirement:
