The Networking/Cyber Security program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with a foundation in the principles and practices of information security, network design, digital forensic investigations, cloud computing, and computer hardware/software troubleshooting. This program’s curriculum aligns with industry-recognized certifications and is ideal for students seeking careers in cybersecurity, network design and maintenance, and information technology.
All major course requirements are to be taken in the order approved by the student’s individual CIS Advisor. The student must have a “C” or higher in all required courses to progress to the next level of the program. To remain eligible for enrollment in subsequent CIS courses, a student may repeat a particular CIS course only once and may repeat only two CIS courses.
All students in this degree program will participate in a work-based learning experience with local employers that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. The college and the employer will develop a learning plan that satisfies the course learning objectives. This experience maps to the ITSY-2330 Intrusion Detection course, students will spend eight weeks in the classroom and eight weeks in the field. Students unable to find a local employer internship will need to complete a case study and technical implementation project to satisfy this work-based learning requirement.
