Computer Cyber Security Certificate

This certificate prepares individuals to secure their computer systems and networks as well as design and implement enterprise security strategies. Courses utilize hands-on labs and aid the student in preparing to take the following certification exams: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CYSA+, CompTIA Pentest+, CompTIA Linux+, and local needs cloud certifications. This certificate leads towards an AAS in Computer Networking/Cyber Security.

All students in this certificate program will participate in a work-based learning experience with local employers that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. The college and the employer will develop a learning plan that satisfies the course learning objectives. This experience maps to the ITSY-2330 Intrusion Detection course, students will spend eight weeks in the classroom and eight weeks in the field. Students unable to find a local employer internship will need to complete a case study and technical implementation project to satisfy this work-based learning requirement.

All major course requirements are to be taken in the order approved by the student’s individual CIS Advisor. The student must have a “C” or higher in all required courses to progress to the next level of the program. To remain eligible for enrollment in subsequent CIS courses, a student may repeat a particular CIS course only once and may repeat only two CIS courses.
