The Construction Technology program at Amarillo College consists of three stackable certificates which lead to an Associate in Applied Science degree. The Construction Technology advanced certificate builds on the student’s interest in the construction trades.
The advanced certificate is composed of five courses. These courses build upon the student’s growing knowledge and continues to develop their skills in: safety, specific trade tool use, increased drafting skill, blueprint reading, additional mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and exterior finishes. Students will be involved in project based learning to continue to develop their skills and knowledge of the construction trades.
As students progress through the advanced construction certificate they will build upon skills learned to complete the construction of their tiny home project.
Students will be required to seek internships, cooperative education and jobs within the construction trades. Any course after the first 18 SCH of the core can be substituted with an internship, apprenticeship, or cooperative learning agreement in consultation with your instructor and work supervisor.
