The Construction Technology program at Amarillo College consists of three stackable certificates which lead to an Associate in Applied Science degree. The Carpentry advanced certificate builds on the student’s interest in carpentry.
The advanced certificate is composed of five courses. These courses build upon the student’s knowledge and continues to grow their skills in: safety, specific trade tool use, increased drafting skill, blueprint reading and specific carpentry skills. Students will be involved in project based learning to develop their skills and knowledge of the carpentry trade.
As students progress through the advanced carpentry certificate they will build upon skills learned to complete the construction of their tiny home project.
Students will be required to seek internships, cooperative education and jobs within the carpentry trades. Any course after the first 18 SCH of the core can be substituted with an internship, apprenticeship, or cooperative learning agreement in consultation with your instructor and work supervisor.
