This CIS curriculum provides several program concentrations that prepare an individual for today’s business computer industry opportunities. Each program prepares an individual for entry-level position in one of these areas: Computer Programming, Web Development, Cyber-Security, Business, Education, Media and Recording Engineering.

All major course requirements are to be taken in the order approved by the students’ individual CIS Advisor. The student must have a grade of C or higher in all required courses in order to progress to the next level of the program. To remain eligible for enrollment in subsequent CIS courses, a student may repeat a particular CIS course only once and may repeat only two CIS courses.

Program Requirements

General Education Requirements (15 Semester Hours)


Communication - 6 Hours


Humanities/Fine Arts - 3 Hours


Social/Behavioral Sciences - 3 Hours


Major Elective Requirements (3-4 Semester Hours)


Complete 3-4 hours of CIS electives based on recommendations from the major advisor.

Major Options (12-16 Semester Hours)


Students should select a program concentration in Computer Programming, Web Development, Cyber-Security, Business, Education, Media or Recording Engineering.

Computer Information Systems - 12 to 15 Hours


Complete 4 CIS or related courses based on recommendations from the major advisor.
